Finola Merivale

Finola Merivale is an Irish composer living in New York. She is a doctor of musical arts candidate in Composition at Columbia University, where she is studying with George Lewis, Georg Friedrich Haas, and Zosha Di Castri. Themes that run across her music include climate change, oppression, and a sense of place — both real and imagined. 2020–21 projects include commissions from National Sawdust, bassoonist Rebekah Heller, and pianist Karl Larson. Finola is spending the remainder of 2020 in Paris, where she is an Artist-in-Residence at the Centre Culturel Irlandais.
